Napoleon Lajoie. (b.1875 in Woonsocket, d.1959 in Florida) Baseball player and Hall of Famer. Holds the American League record season batting average of .422 set in 1901 with the Philadelphia Athletics. Long career with the Cleveland major league team. Career total over 3,000 hits. Cleveland baseball team was once called the "Naps" in his honor. Was also manager. Along with Gabby Hartnett, is one of two Woonsocketers in the Hall of Fame.
