CL 3 1886 Edward Carrington (b.1775). Successful RI businessman and merchant. Chief engineer of the Blackstone Canal, completed in 1828. Between 1828 and 1832 constructed the Hamlet Mill in Woonsocket, a cotton mill. Carrington Avenue named for him.
